Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students from University of Wollongong, Australia

University of Wollongong is a University that ranks among the top 2% of universities in the world with an enviable record of achievement in teaching and research. University of Wollongong offers several undergraduate Scholarships for International Students. These are:


Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships (UES)
 
The UES offers a 25% reduction of the international tuition fee for the duration of the course, up to a maximum of 4 years.There is no limit to the number of UES available – as long as you meet the academic criteria, you will automatically be awarded the scholarship along with your offer of admission: 

You may be eligible if you have excellent results in one of the following categories:
> Australian Year 12 or equivalent international secondary school qualification;
> Foundation Studies programs approved for direct admission to Bachelor degrees and offered at an institution recognised by UOW;
> Diploma or other academic pathway program approved for admission with credit exemption from an institution with which UOW has a formal agreement;
> Up to one year of study in a Bachelor degree at a recognised University, where there is no credit exemption awarded to study at UOW.
The UES is available to students enrolling in Bachelor degrees at UOW (Australian campuses only) except for the following: Medicine & Surgery; Nursing; Science (Nutrition or Exercise Science); Nutrition & Dietetics; Exercise Science & Rehabilitation; and Psychology (all degrees).

FACULTY MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS (FMS)
 
This scholarship provides a further 25% reduction of the international tuition fees bringing the total scholarship value to 50% off the tuition fee when offered in combination with the UES.

The Faculty Merit Scholarships are for those with outstanding results, in the same categories outlined above for the UES, and applying for the following Bachelor degrees at UOW (Australian campuses only):
  •  Accounting & Financial Services*;
  •  Arts; Creative Arts; Performance; Journalism
  •  Banking & Financial Services*
  •  Business Information Systems
  •  Commerce; Economics & Finance
  •  Communication & Media Studies; Digital Media
  •  Computer Science; Information Technology;
  •  Engineering
  •  International Studies
  •  Law (single degrees)
  •  Mathematics; Mathematics & Finance; Medical Mathematics
  •  Medical Radiation Physics
  •  Science (Materials, Nuclear Science & Technology, Physics)
* Offered at the Sydney Business School, Sydney

UOW International Academic Merit Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to pursue work placements and internships. Engineering students have guaranteed vacation work at the end of their third year to ensure they meet Engineering Australia accreditation requirements.

Scholarship recipients may be offered the option to enrol in an advanced program; these include the Dean’s Scholar, Advanced Degrees and the Engineering (Scholar) programs, which offer the following additional benefits:
  •  $500 textbook allowance per year\ Pairing with an academic mentor
  •  Special workshops and seminars
  •  Extended library privileges and designated for study space

Once your financial need is determined by College, a financial aid award that is equal to your need will be offered. Notices of financial aid awards will be sent soon after admission letters are mailed to first-year and transfer applicants. The award is sometimes called an "aid package" because it may include both self-help (employment) and gift aid (scholarships and grants). Students with lower financial need will be offered self-help. Students with greater need will be offered a combination of self-help and gift aid.  

Amherst College has replace all initially packaged, need based student loans with grant assistance and also offers $1,800 in an employment opportunity

International Students Academic Merit Scholarship
 
The International Students Academic Merit Scholarship is open to new international students seeking a graduate or undergraduate degree. The scholarship covers 50 percent of the total of in and out-of-state tuition and maintenance fees only. No additional fees or costs are covered. The scholarship award can only be used for study at ETSU. The award is available for:
> Eight semesters for undergraduate recipients
> Five semesters for recipients seeking a master's degree, or commensurate with the length of the program.
> Eight semesters for doctoral students, or commensurate with the length of the program (see ETSU graduate catalog).
> Scholarship can be applied to summer semesters.

When to Apply
 
Completed applications, including letters of recommendation, need to be submitted by the following dates:
> Fall semester deadline: no later than July 1st
> Spring semester deadline: no later than October 1st

Students are encouraged to submit scholarship applications as soon as they are admitted to ETSU. An application cannot be reviewed until the applicant is admitted to the university. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Graduate Assistantships and Tuition Scholarships 
 
International graduate students are eligible for graduate assistantships (GA) and tuition scholarships (TS). GA and TS positions require students to work in exchange for receiving tuition or maintenance fee waivers. Students receiving a GA receive monthly stipends in addition to the tuition waiver. For international students, GA and TS positions include a waiver of out-of-state tuition (GA positions also include a monthly stipend). In order to be eligible for a GA, international students must be admitted unconditionally as graduate students. To be eligible for a TS, students must be in their first period of enrollment as graduate students.

The UQI is awarded to outstanding international research higher degree students to cover the cost of living expenses and tuition fees.




Award value:

Tuition fees and $25,849 per annum (2015 rate), indexed annually

To be eligible you must:
  •  Be an international student studying full-time and onshore in Australia.
  •  Be nominated by the enrolling school or institute.
  •  Be assessed by the Graduate School  as meeting all conditions for admission to the  research higher degree program.
  •  Not hold a qualification  at the same or  a higher level than the  research higher degree program you are undertaking.
  •  Not be receiving an award, scholarship or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the UQI rate to undertake the research higher degree program.

Students can be considered for scholarship twice.  Consideration can be prior to enrolment, or in any scholarship round up to and including the first round after the confirmation milestone is achieved.

Full Tution Scholarships for Nepalese Students from University of Oregon, USA

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships at the University of Oregon, USA have established a new full tuition scholarship for students from Nepal.




The scholarship comes as part of the UO response to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25 in Nepal that killed 8,800 people and left more than 23,000 injured.

The $30,000 award is intended to help a Nepalese student cover tuition costs at the UO. The scholarship can be awarded to either a graduate or undergraduate student, in a field of study that can enable the student to return home and contribute to the reconstruction needs of Nepal.The UO Nepal Scholarship committee hopes to issue the first award to an incoming student starting fall 2016.
